Oscar wins!

Uncategorized

Well the yearly movie Christmas has come and gone, and the award winners have finally been revealed.
I was not too surprised with many of these wins, because they are all deserving.
Bird man swept the academy with wins for Best Director, Best screenplay and Best movie. This was a movie that was bold and a non generic film to win so I’m so glad.
The best actor category was always going to be either Michael Keaton or Eddie Redmayne so I wasn’t too upset with his win because he played Stephen Hawking well and man did he look like he had ALS.
Best actress went to Julianne Moore in a role that also involved her having a disease that slowly destroys you. This was a movie I did not see because I just haven’t had the time but apparently she really deserved it.
I wanted Rosamund Pike to win but that probably would’ve changed if I have watched Still Alice.
Patricia Arquette won best supporting actress for Boyhood (a movie I was actually really bored in). She was the best part of that movie, and the only reason this movie is even so Oscar buzzed is because of the 12 year achievement. Plot wise it was not that outstanding.
Best supporting actor is J.K. Simmons in whiplash. Biggest asshole of the year and very deserving of the award.
Overall it was an ok show which I will talk about in my next blog.

New image of Aquaman

movies

Jason Momoa is a badass, no one could deny that as he is a guy one wouldn’t decide to pick a fight with. So when he was announced as Aquaman I was more than pleased, as I was glad they were going down the route of the badass Aquaman by Geoff Johns in the recent New 52, being one of the best story arcs along with Wonder Woman.

Zack Snyder just posted the first image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman on his Twitter, and it fulfills everything I hoped. He looks rough and ready to take no crap. There are even hints of blonde in his hair to acknowledge the origins of Aquaman (who is blonde).
Overall I’m rather pleased with this look and I can’t wait to see him in action!

Hitman: Agent 47 trailer review

movies

I knew a hitman movie was coming out this year, but I was still unprepared for some reason for the movie trailer. It’s probably due to the stinker which was the 2007 version.
The Hitman games were fun memories for me as I used to play them with my cousin (and I completely suck I’m not going to lie). It was very fun and tactical, which is what this trailer is portraying to me.

Spiderman to join Marvel Studios

movies

I was getting ready to head of to work and I decided to check my instagram, only to be bombarded with this headline “SPIDEY JOINING MARVEL STUDIOS!!”.
I first thought it was a joke, because why in the world would Sony give up the moneymaker. Then I checked Marvel.com and it was legitimate.

So what does this mean for Sony studios?

Sex and the city TV show review

SEX AND THE CITY: 8 cosmopolitans out of 10

It was one random weeknight when I was bored and decided to leave the channel on, and the show that popped up was Sex and the City.I have heard about this show so many times, and always wondered why so many females love and relate to the characters so much, so I gave it a go.

I was hooked.

Oh and this would be spoiler full so you were warned!

It was the episode when Carrie was asked to be in the fashion show, and instantly I was drawn to Carrie Bradshaw as a character. I always thought judging by what I movie posters and random pictures here and there of the show that she as a character would be generic and be the perfect city girl. I am so glad to see that she was insecure in this episode and relied on her good friends to help her out. Her friends, in particular Samantha, was caught my attention when I watched that episode because she is so cocky and bold.

The episode ended and I decided, “I need to get onto this show. Pronto.”.
